About Our School

J.T. Stevens Elementary

Our school’s namesake was a Fort Worth resident for 30 years who dropped out of school in the eighth grade. When Mr. Stevens retired as a hardware store owner, he donated 66 acres for this school site along with nearly 90 other acres for other Fort Worth ISD school sites. Mr. Stevens, who died in 1975, said he wanted students to have more opportunities than he had.

The school opened in 1967 and the Applied Learning Program began on campus in 2014. Staff, teachers, students, and administrators alike strive to create a welcoming environment where students are able to thrive.

This year at J.T Stevens we are implementing a badge system. Student badges in education are validated indicators that signify a student's achievements, capabilities, and interest in an academic setting. In other words, they are visible representations of their accomplishments and acquired skills as a student.

Students tend to learn and perform better when they are rewarded for what they do and have their efforts acknowledged. These badges help educators recognize student accomplishments and motivate students struggling to excel.

A JTS badge recognizes that a student has mastered a specific skill or achieved a milestone. These badges provide a more detailed view of a student’s learning journey – since they are focused on individual skills or achievements

Collecting badges can also help students demonstrate a clear understanding of achieving a goal, which can support them in their academic success as they complete educational programs.

JTS badges are visible representations of your accomplishments and acquired skills as a student.
